A speech given by US Secretary of State Warren Christopher at the signing ceremony for the Declaration of Principles (Oslo I Accord) in Washington, DC, on 13 September 1993. Citing the 1974 Israel-Egypt and Israel-Syria Disengagement Agreements, the 1975 Israel-Egypt Interim Agreement, the 1978 Camp David Accords and the 1991 Madrid Conference as milestones on the road to the agreement, Christopher called it "a dramatic step towards a just, lasting and comprehensive peace", to which the United States is committed. He also expressed hope that this agreement "will spur progress in the talks between Israel and Syria, Jordan and Lebanon".
