Arab League Resolutions on Palestinian Unity and Gaza (November 2008)
Two resolutions adopted at an emergency ministerial-level meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, Egypt, on 26 November 2008. The first offered support to PNA President Mahmoud Abbas and to the Egyptian-brokered efforts to form a national unity government including Fatah and Hamas, reiterated the League’s commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative, and condemned Israel’s aggression against the Gaza Strip, settlement activity in the West Bank and actions endangering the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The second resolution involved the Arab countries’ commitment to send food and medical supplies to the Strip.
