Amended Palestinian National Charter (1968)
An amended version of the 1964 Palestinian National Charter that was adopted by the Palestinian National Council in July 1968, following the 1967 Six Day War and amidst the transition in the PLO leadership from Ahmed Shukeiri to Yasser Arafat. It contained a stronger emphasis on Palestinian identity as opposed to a pan-Arab one. The 1968 version was amended in the late 1990s to reflect the PLO’s recognition of Israel as part of the Oslo Process.
