A statement published by the Middle East Quartet on 26 June 2009 in New York, NY, following a meeting between UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Undersecretary of State William Burns and Special Envoy George Mitchell, EU High Representative Javier Solana, EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout and Quartet Representative Tony Blair. The leaders affirmed their support to previous resolutions and the basic principles of a two-state solution, as well as the US-sponsored negotiations, and called on both sides to honor their obligations.
