A resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 20 July 1979, by a vote of 14 For, 0 Against, 1 Abstaining (United States). Endorsing the work of the commission established under Resolution 446, the resolution once again denounced Israel's settlement activity in territories occupied in 1967 including (East) Jerusalem, this activity constituting a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and called on Israel to cease planning and construction of settlements.
