An international conference that took place in Cairo, Egypt, on 12 October 2014, with the goal of initiating efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip in the wake of the Summer 2014 conflict. The conference was co-chaired by Egypt, Norway and the PNA, and included speeches by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, PNA President Mahmoud Abbas, US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The guideline for reconstruction planning was the National Early Recovery and Reconstruction Plan for Gaza prepared by the PNA. During the conference, $5.4bn were pledged by participating countries to assist in reconstruction efforts.
