Israeli-Palestinian Joint Statement in Taba (2001)
A joint Israeli-Palestinian statement made at the conclusion of the Taba Summit on 27 January 2001. The sides acknowledged the significant progress made on all core issues - refugees, security, borders and Jerusalem - though the short time frame precluded the conclusion of a comprehensive agreement. The sides also declared that "they have never been closer to reaching an agreement and it is thus [their] shared belief that the remaining gaps could be bridged with the resumption of negotiations following the Israeli elections."
