Shultz Peace Plan (1988)
A letter from US Secretary of State George Shultz to Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir, dated 4 March 1988, in which he sets out his vision for Arab-Israeli and Palestinian-Israeli negotiations based on UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338. The letter sets a time table for negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian-Jordanian delegations, with six months devoted to discussing interim arrangements and one year for permanent status negotiations. The United States would participate in the negotiations and submit a draft agreement to both sides.
