A resolution adopted unanimously by the United Nations Security Council on 4 April 2002. Adopted in the midst of Operation Defensive Shield, a major Israeli operation during the Second Intifada, the resolution demanded the immediate implementation of Resolution 1402 that called for a ceasefire and welcomed the efforts of U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to promote a comprehensive settlement.
