Obama reaffirmed the United States' commitment to a "strong and secure" Israel and discussed efforts to combat the Iranian nuclear threat and the de-legitimization of Israel. He called for direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations on core issues in the framework of a two-state solution, including a territorial settlement based on the pre-1967 lines with mutual territorial exchange, and a demilitarized Palestinian state among other security assurances for Israel.
