An agreement signed between King Abdullah of Jordan and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman, Jordan, on 31 March 2013. The agreement recalled the importance to Islam of Jerusalem in general and of Al-Haram al-Sharif (Temple Mount) compound in particular, as well as the historical role of Jordan and the Hashemite dynasty as custodians of the holy sites, and Palestinian territorial rights over the area. Abbas agreed to recognize Jordan's role in preserving, administering and ensuring access to the Muslim holy sites, while Abdullah reiterated Jordan's commitment to this role.
