1931 Census of Palestine
A census of Palestine conducted by the Mandatory government on 18 November 1931. The census featured a detailed breakdown of the population of each locality by religion, as well as information regarding age, marital status, education, birthplace, language, occupation and more. The total population of Palestine was given as 1,035,821, of whom 759,712 (73%) were Muslims, 174,610 (17%) Jews, 91,398 (9%) Christians and 10,101 others. The population of Jerusalem was given as 90,503, of whom19,294 were Muslims, 51,222 Jews, 19,335 Christians and 52 others (excluding neighborhoods such as Beit HaKerem and Isawiya, which were not formally part of the city at the time).
