Annapolis Conference (2007)
A peace conference held in Annapolis, MD, on 27 November 2007, with the participation of an Israeli delegation led by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, a Palestinian delegation headed by PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and American representatives led by President George W. Bush. The conference also included representatives from several other countries, the European Union and the Arab League. Its goal was to resume Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, stalled since the collapse of the Oslo Process and the onset of the Second Intifada, and to implement the Road Map for Peace. The conference concluded with a joint resolution that launched a new process of bilateral negotiations, which ran until Olmert’s resignation due to corruption charges in late 2008.
