A summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on 8 February 2005, involving newly-elected PNA President Mahmoud Abbas, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and King Abdullah II of Jordan. Its goal was to declare the end of the Second Intifada and to inaugurate a new round of negotiation based on the Road Map for Peace. Following the summit, Israel agreed to release several hundred Palestinian prisoners.
