A statement published by the Middle East Quartet on 21 February 2007 in Berlin, Germany, following a meeting between UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, EU High Representative Javier Solana, EU Commissioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The leaders heard from Rice about her meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and PNA President Mahmoud Abbas. They reaffirmed their support to negotiations and to a Palestinian government committed to the peace process, including the Road Map, and discussed efforts to establish a Palestinian unity government under the Mecca Agreement, as well as international involvement in the peace process.
