Israeli PM Olmert’s Convergence Plan (2006)

A unilateral withdrawal plan proposed by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert following the implementation of the Disengagement Plan and ahead of the 2006 Israeli legislative elections. The plan called for the completion of the West Bank Separation Barrier and the evacuation of all Israeli settlements from the area east of the barrier, while retaining the large settlement blocs west of it, with the Jordan Valley constituting Israel’s “security border”. The plan was never adopted officially, and consequently abandoned following the 2006 Lebanon War.
